Community Engagement
Project Optimism promotes community engagement by coordinating volunteers at large scale community events and hosting community events of their own. Volunteer opportunities have ranged from toy drives, personal development workshops and seminars, to days serving those experiencing homelessness.

Each year funds are raised and allocated to alleviate some of the financial burden that comes with pursing education and overcoming life’s unexpected obstacles.

These events are designed to unite community members in a fun environment in efforts to raise funds or bring awareness to a cause.

We coordinate opportunities for community members to find their place in contributing to advancement and well being of society.

The Community Readership Program is an enrichment program for students in marginalized communities. Project Optimism understands the need for positive representation, especially that is reflected in literature. This program further connects college students and young professionals with such elementary students to develop their phonics and vocabulary, as well as their identity development.
